Glossybox October 2013

6 November 2013

After last months fantastic Glossybox I kind of knew the next one would be rubbish. Unfortunately I was right. Thank God this months box was free {you can fill in surveys about the products to earn 'Glossydots' and save them up to get a free box}.

The theme of the box for October was Dark Romance. I was hoping this would mean some lush Autumnal make-up products but quite frankly only one product in the box fitted with this theme and I have no idea why the other products were even in there. The biggest disappointment for me though was that four out of the five products were sample sizes. That's pretty poop in my book.

Anyway, let's take a closer look at what was inside....

MeMeMe, Cherubs Blush Cheek and Lip Tint {full size} //  I haven't used this on my cheeks yet as it's quite a deep red colour and I'm a bit scared I'll look like a clown! I've used it on my lips and I was not impressed. Yes the shade is nice for autumn but it comes off as soon as you lick your lips and the brush applicator tickled my lips like crazy!
Full size price £5.50 for 12ml

Killer Queen Eau de Parfum by Katy Perry {sample size} //  This perfume has top notes of wild berry, dark plum and bergamot so it's quite a musky fragrance and definitely an evening scent. I quite liked it but not enough to buy it. The sample was tiny too so it was used up after only two days.
Full size price £38.50 for 100ml

Premae, Harmony Multi-Vit Serum {sample size} //  This is a new brand to me and my initial impression was that the bottle looked very basic and 'cheap'. The product is a lightweight shine-control serum which claims to prep and prime your skin, leaving it silky yet mattified. Serum is an important part of my skincare routine but I wasn't blown away with this. I didn't see any benefits to my skin however I have dry skin so I need something to boost moisture not mattify it.
Full size price £22.50 for 50ml

Monu, Illuminating Primer {sample size} // A primer formulated with light reflective and soft focus technology to brighten the complexion and add instant sheen and radiance. I really liked this. I've used it almost every day and it's lasted really well for such a small sample. You only need a pea sized blob for your whole face and it really does give a lovely illuminating effect. I would buy it but it's waaaaaay too expensive for my meager budget!
Full size price £24.95 for 50ml

Eva Professional, Mystic Diamond {sample size} // Another brand that I've never heard of and when I first saw the little box that just says Mystic Diamond on it, I thought it was an eyeshadow. Wrong! Inside is a tiny bottle of Argan oil with diamond powder which claims to give your hair sublime shine and unique nutrition. This is the only product in the box that I haven't tried yet as I have a bit of a fear of argan oil and have visions of being left with lank greasy locks! I promise I will try it soon though.
Full size price £22.70 for 100ml

I hate to be so negative but this month's box gets a big thumbs down. Four out of five sample sized products is just mean of Glossybox. I hope the November box will be back to it's Glossy best.

What did you get in your Glossybox? What did you think of this month's box?
