Reasons To Be Cheerful - 02.08.12

2 August 2012

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a lovely week. I've had a great week so let's dive straight in with the reasons that I'm cheerful/grateful/happy about this week!

Please pop over to visit Clare at Seasider In the City who's hosting this fab linky this week. Just click on the pic on the right.

Here comes the cheerfulness...

Hair. I am absolutely over the moon that I've had my hair cut and coloured this afternoon! Oh my goodness, my roots were looking bad. They were really grey even though I only had it coloured 8 weeks ago. Anyway, after 2 hours with my lovely hairdresser, a flick through a couple of magazines and a coffee in peace, I emerged feeling {and nearly looking} like a new woman! It's not a very good photo as I'm rubbish as taking pics of myself but here is my lovely new cut and highlighted hair.

Cake. It's my Mum's birthday on Sunday and I'm making her a birthday cake. As my lovely readers will know, I'm more of a cupcake girl but I thought I'd have a go at a cake seeing as it's a special occasion. As usual I'm not going for the easy option! I've been planning it for weeks, I've done lots of research to find the design that I think my Mum will like and that I can possibly manage. So I'm baking a red velvet cake and decorating it with royal icing with an icing bow on top and little flowers on the sides. I'm hoping it will look something like the top tier of this cake {without the twirly bits and the 65 topper}. I've never done anything like this before but I like a challenge and will just have to keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't go pear shaped.

Olympics. I'm really enjoying the Olympics. I absolutely loved the opening ceremony.... the Queen and James Bond parachuting into the Olympic Stadium was inspired! I just hope the rest of the world appreciated the humour as much as we did. I've mostly been watching the swimming on an evening. When Team GB are competing I get really excited shouting at the telly cheering them on. I'm looking forward to the track and field events starting tomorrow. The athletes are just amazing, they are so inspiring and such fabulous role models.

Hasn't Tom Daley grown into a fine young man?!

So what have you got to smile about this week? If you want to see what other people are cheerful about, pop on over to Seasider In The City to read their stories or follow the linky below!

  1. Your hair looks lovely! Good luck with the cake - will be looking out for pictures!

    1. Thank you. The cake was brilliant, post will be up as soon as I sort out all the photos! xx

  2. Great reasons! Nothing like a new hairdo to make you feel shiny and new. I totally8 agree, its wonderful to see Tom grow before our eyes into such a lovely young man and role model. I feel us pride when ever he's on the screen and he's not my child, I can only imagine how much joy he brings to him family.

    Good luck the cake.

    1. Thank you MsXpat. The athletes are amazing, they are such great fab role models. Their parents must be so proud xx
